Parent Online Safety

Dear Parents/Carers,

I am writing to inform you about the filtering and monitoring practices in place at our school. These practices are in line with the Keeping Children Safe in Education statutory guidance.
The purpose of filtering and monitoring is to protect children from harmful content online. To achieve this, we use a range of tools, including:

  • Content filtering software restricts access to specific types of content, such as pornography or violence.
  • Web filtering software that blocks access to known harmful websites.
  • Real-time monitoring software that tracks internet activity and alerts us to any potential concerns.

In addition to these measures, we also have several other safeguards in place to protect children from harm online. For example, staff direct children to access a limited number of websites on a day-to-day basis, all of which have been carefully vetted and are deemed educationally beneficial. Children will not be able to engage in unregulated online interactions.

All online activity is monitored by staff, and, as always, parents will be notified if any inappropriate or concerning behaviour is detected.
Rest assured, our staff are trained to identify and respond to harmful content appropriately. We continue to work diligently to ensure your children remain safe online while benefiting from a high standard of teaching and learning. We believe these practices are essential in protecting children from harm.

We also encourage parents to talk to their children about online safety and to monitor their online activity. By working together, we can help keep children safe online.

If you would like to discuss our monitoring and filtering practices or have any concerns about online safety, please do not hesitate to contact the school.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs J Cheung
Head Teacher
