Nursery Admissions

classes

Your 3 or 4 year old child may be eligible for 30 hours free childcare.

Families who meet the following criteria could be eligible:

  • All parents living in the household who work a minimum of 16 hours a week at national living wage, and earn no more than £100,000 each per year

Or

  • One or both parents are currently on maternity, paternity, shared parental or adoption leave
  • One or both parents are currently on statutory sick leave
  • One parent meets the income criteria and the other is unable to work because they are disabled, have caring responsibilities or have been assessed as having limited capability to work

Things you need to know:

  • All 3 and 4 year olds will still be able to access 15 hours of childcare, families who are eligible for this additional funding will be able to increase that up to 30 hours
  • Eligibility checks will take place through childcarechoices.gov.uk – you will receive a code that you need to give to your child’s chosen childcare provider.
  • Funding starts from the term following your child’s 3rd birthday, providing you have had a successful eligibility check before the start of term
  • ‘Free childcare’ covers cost of delivering your child’s funded early education. Charges may apply for meals, other consumable, additional hours or additional services – these will be made clear to you when you reserve your child’s place

Places are offered to children who are on our waiting list. The main guideline is age; the oldest are offered places first. Children must be three to qualify for five free sessions*. Because we feel that the beginning of school is an important step, for both child and family, this process is staggered.
We ask families to set aside a number of sessions to be with their child at the beginning. Sometimes it is necessary for parents to leave their child for a short time only, increasing the separation gradually until the child is secure and happy.

On the day your child is admitted, please bring with you evidence of his/her date of birth, i.e. passport, birth certificate or child benefit letter.

Punctuality

We ask that children are brought to nursery on time. If you wish to arrive later or pick up your child earlier please inform the school office on 01204 333511
Please inform the school office on 01204 333511 if your child is going to be absent.

Collection of children

When a child is admitted to the nursery, one or both parents is/are responsible for collecting their child. If a different person calls to collect the child, and the parents have not informed the nursery of this, then the parents’ permission must be obtained before handing over the child.

  • Children are entitled to 15 hours per week.
  • These can be taken either 5 afternoons, 5 mornings or you may pay for full-time.  Full time will be 8:30 to 3:30 Monday to Friday.
Early Years Nursery Welcome Pack

The early years unit is a separate large building from the main school and has the capacity to take 59 children in any one session. The children come from a much wider area than the main school.

The nursery offers highly qualified staff, excellent facilities and an established, excellent pre-school reputation.

The school and nursery unit are run by Bolton Metropolitan Borough Council, just like most local schools. The local authority provides every child with three hours of free nursery education each day. The local authority no longer funds full-time places. However, the nursery is registered with OFSTED which means that parents may pay for dinner supervision and extra sessions if they wish. The care packages will link into the educational provision so that families can have both education and care for children in the nursery.

Some parents may qualify for child care grants, contact the Inland Revenue for information. The helpline number is 0845 609 5000. Our registration number is 105149.
