School Uniform

Dear Parents/Carers,

At Brownlow Fold School, we believe that our school uniform is important in establishing the right ethos for our school. Wearing school uniform helps to improve behaviour and gives the children a sense of belonging and identity.
School uniforms have been made more affordable for all families under a new law passed by Parliament on the 29 April 2021. This new law has helped to save families money and ensure the cost of a blazer or shirt is never a barrier to accessing the best possible education.

As a school, we have ensured that our uniform supplier is competitively priced and transparent in order to keep costs down. The school jumper/cardigan is the only item of school uniform that contains our logo that we expect all children to wear. All other items of clothing can be purchased from a variety of retailers such as supermarkets i.e. Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury’s etc. whose costs are low. We welcome the Government’s recognition that the quality and longevity of garments should be considered alongside their cost.
There has been an increasing number of pupils wearing the incorrect school uniform. Please can I remind all parents/carers that we expect all pupils to wear the correct uniform every day. Please can I also remind parents/carers of the expectations regarding hairstyles and jewellery.

Jewellery
Children are able to wear one stud earring in each ear, a watch and a discrete headband (blue or white). We ask the children to remove these items for PE and extracurricular activities.

Hairstyles
Hair should always be neat and tidy. Hair should ideally be tied back at all times. Haircuts with ‘tramlines’ or other designs shaved onto the head are not acceptable. We ask that the colour of headscarves (hijab) match our school uniform colours, which are blue and white and that they are plain. Hair bobbles, headbands and clips should be discrete and in school colours.
